RECORD KEEPING

Records of tests complete with test results should be kept for the whole of the life of a piece of equipment. Without these records the “Responsible Person” cannot be certain that the inspection and testing has been carried out properly.

If an unfortunate incident should occur, then records of test results will prove that you have done all “that is reasonably practical” to prevent danger.

Records should include:

A register of all equipment

A record of formal visual inspections and tests

A repair register

A register of faulty equipment

Labelling:

On successful completion of tests a label should be attached to all appliances containing the following information:

Appliance asset number

Whether the equipment has passed or failed

Test Date

Date next test due

Testers Identity.
